Carlos Gonzalez

Detectives with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Homeland Securities Investigations (HSI) have arrested 43 year old Carlos Gonzalez of Fresno for sending harmful matter to a child and attempting to meet a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

During the investigation, detectives discovered Gonzalez had initiated contact with the minor via the social media application Kik.  Kik is a free messaging app that allows users to send texts, images and videos, often anonymously, using just a username rather than a phone number.  Detectives intervened and arrested Gonzalez before he could have any contact with the child.

At the time of his arrest, Gonzalez was in possession of an employee identification card from the Fresno Unified School District, identifying him as a certified substitute teacher. Due to his position, investigators believe Gonzalez may have taken further advantage of his access to numerous children. Therefore, we have concerns there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information related to this case, or anyone who believes they may be a victim, to contact Detective Juliana Castano (559) 369-9217.  Even if you have been hesitant to speak up in the past, we urge you to come forward now.  Tips may also be submitted to Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 or online at www.valleycrimestoppers.org  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.  Reference case #25-4836.

*Central California ICAC is comprised of 66 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies spread throughout nine counties in the Central Valley.  It is dedicated to protecting children online and investigating crimes committed against children, which are facilitated by the internet and computer usage.
